These three portraits of Bill Bruford, Robert Fripp and John Wetton were shot for the cover of their 1974 album "Red" - I had worked with Robert when he was in Giles, Giles & Fripp back in 1968 and would go on to work with Bill on his solo album cover for "Feels Good to Me" in 1977 and also in 1985 for his collaboration with Patrick Moraz called "Flags"

Jobriath was the stage name of Bruce Wayne Campbell and this portrait was for the cover of his second album "Creatures of the Night" - billed as the "new" David Bowie Jobriath was extraordinarily talented and first came to fame in the musical Hair from which he was fired for upstaging - he was the first openly gay artist to be signed to a major record company and tragically one of the first international artists to die of Aids in 1983

Brett Smiley was a child actor in his native America and appeared as Oliver in the Broadway production of the famous musical. In 1974 he was managed & produced by Andrew Loog Oldham who asked me to shoot the portraits for his album "Breathlessly Brett" which wasn't actually released until 2003 just a few years before his sad death in 2016

Chris Spedding was a successful session guitarist who worked with many artists and appeared in various bands before he had a solo hit called "Motor Biking" in 1975. This portrait which we shot at Camber Sands and featured my much loved 1957 Oldsmobile Super 88, was for his first solo album cover. At the same time I also directed my first (and last) promo for Chris to promote his single "Jump in My Car"
