Holly Beth Vincent was very talanted and great looking so I was very happy to photograph her with her band Holly & the Italians. Always searching for slightly different and odd ways to shoot groups led me to set this up, using a large mirror to reflect Holly and create an unusual perspective

Susan Maughan was a household name in the 60s and came to represent a certain show biz style that seemed stuck in that decade, and when I was taking her protrait for a magazine and she suggested her bathroom as a location I couldn't have been happier!

Getting a few minutes in a hotel room is not my favourite way of working but when offered a chance to photograph the great Randy Newman I couldn't resist. He was very reticent and really didn't appear to want his photo taken so I tried to get that across in this portrait

Billy Fury was a real hero of mine, a British Rock & Roll star of huge standing and an important figure from my youth. He kept me waiting for ages backstage at the Hammersmith Odeon and then gave me a very cursory few minutes but I was delighted with this portrait. Sadly he passed a way a few months later at just 43.......

Heaven 17 consisted of Ian Craig Marsh, Glenn Gregory and Martyn Ware and had grown out of a great 70s band called the Human League and had several hits throughout the 80s. For this publicity shoot they had adopted a stylish and rather moody retro look......

Malcolm was promoting The World's Famous Supreme Team who were an American Hip Hop band at the time and wanted me to shoot them in a very seedy office in Denmark Street (Tin Pan Alley) - needless to say it was chaos and Malcolm was completely crazed - good fun though!

Nobody ever recognises Elton in this mad, camp biker gear but it was great fun to shoot and the band played the whole "tough" look to the hilt - it was for the "Leather Jackets" album and was art directed by my good friend David Costa
