Although I knew George a bit socially I had never photographed him before, so was thrilled when I was asked to shoot the cover for his solo album "Cloud 9" - this is my favourite shot from the session and a similar one was used as the cover for the single "Got My Mind Set On You"

Bad News was the Heavy Metal band created by the brilliant team called The Comic Strip consisting of Peter Richardson, Ade Edmondson, Nigel Planer & Rick Mayall, and this was for the cover of their only album. They were hysterical to work with, and completely "method" in their approach, complete with serious glugging from the Jack Daniels bottle to full on prima-donna hysterics - wonderful.......

A deeply flawed and unpleasant person but a huge and important talent, Phil kept us waiting for days before allowing us into his home to shoot a series of portraits for a new album - it was one of the last great Rock & Roll adventures........
