These guys like their forefathers had fished from this beach at Anse Pappy on the South Western coast of the island generation after generation, building their boats in the traditional manner using the wood of the local Gomier tree.

In 1981 Richard Branson decided to start a rival magazine to Time Out called EVENT. The great art director and good friend Pearce Marchbank was on board and we did several sessions together for the magazine but this one was always a favourite. We had the idea to make a studio in a large lorry and drive it to gigs around London to capture portraits of the various youth tribes that existed at the time. The first (and only) gig we did was a Rock'a'Billy night at Notre Dame Hall off Leicester Square....

Peter O'Toole was in London to promote a film called "High Spirits" and wasn't very happy about it and I could understand why - answering the same questions over & over and having to pose for countless photographers while stuck in a hotel room was not my idea of fun either, but it is part of the job for an actor and when I asked him to try and look a little happier he said "I don't smile darling..." with just a hint of a smile!
