Eric Clapton “Supersession” Platinum Print

£2,000.00

Platinum prints are permanent, youth is not.   The music never dies, but living legends do.  Great portraiture is communion between photographer and subject.  It can also achieve a monumentality that helps us both understand and hold onto our heroes.  Rock stars don’t lend themselves to being chiselled in stone and placed on pedestals in the centre of towns.  They do, however, as Gered Mankowitz shows, do well being preserved, like their best recordings, in platinum.

From the forward to the box set by Gail Buckland.

I have shot several covers for Eric but this was the only occasion I actually photographed him in person. He was appearing in an ill-fated TV show called “Supersession” recorded in London in 1969.

Each Platinum print is 15″x19″ in size and has been produced in an edition of 35 prints with numbers 1-20 only available as part of the complete Platinum Icons Box set and numbers 21-35 available as individual prints.

Each print is supplied in a museum quality window mount embossed with the title of the image

Each print is numbered & signed below the image in pencil
